Donor Update February 2025

wearetumaini

As you may know from our previous communications, there were recently some tragic fires at schools in Kenya. As a consequence, the Board of Education visited Tumaini Brooks School in September and placed a long list of requirements for the school to remain registered. Indeed, our most recent information suggests that 280 other schools in Kenya remain closed because they have not been able to meet similar demands.

We are so so incredibly grateful to confirm that ‘The Big Ask’ campaign has

been successful in raising sufficient funds to undertake Phase 1 and Phase 2 of our renovation plans. The completion of these projects allow us to retain our formal school registration and provide the food, care and education that our children so desperately need.

Most of these improvements were already in our plans, but this required a rapid acceleration of these plans and thus our associated fundraising.

At the end of December, a long-term supporter of Tumaini, an incredibly generous donor put up a match challenge that he would donate $60,000 if we could match it with equal donations from other sources. Miracles have happened and we are almost there. We have one further donation from a corporate sponsor for which we are awaiting confirmation; prayers, good vibes or whatever your personal practice is that this will happen please.
